What Your Body is Doing This Week

This should be the week of your first prenatal visit. Your doctor will ask your medical history and your blood pressure and weight will be checked. Your practitioner may do an internal examination along with a breast exam. The internal exam will be to determine the size and position of your baby. You can also expect to have your urine tested. The best part about this prenatal visit is that you should be able to hear your baby's rapid little heartbeat at this time.

Many practitioners will also have you sent for a blood test to determine your blood type, Rh factor and if you are immunized against varicella, measles, mumps, and rubella (German measles).
