What Your Baby is Doing This Week
The final preparations on your baby have begun. The Eyelashes, eyebrows, and the hair on your baby's head are done. The lanugo hair that covered your baby since early on in the pregnancy has begun to shed and you may see a little of the lanugo hair on your baby after birth, usually in the area of the upper back and shoulders. This normally falls off quickly after birth.
At about 4 pounds (1,800 grams) and 11.4 inches (29 cm). If your baby were delivered this week, she would have an excellent chance of survival.
What Your Body is Doing This Week
Your prenatal visits will go from monthly to bi-weekly and then weekly. Your blood pressure, urine and you'll be watched for swelling. If you have any sudden weight gain, swelling in the hands or face, headaches or changes in vision can be the warning signs of preeclampsia. This condition causes high blood pressure and protein in the urine. Contact your doctor immediately if you begin experiencing these symptoms.
