What Your Baby is Doing This Week
Calcium is important throughout a pregnancy and as your baby's bones develop and harden, the needs of the baby will be met through the bones of the mother if she's not intaking enough calcium.
The vernix coating on the baby's skin is becoming thicker and the lanugo hair should be almost completely shed away at this point.
Most babies will be in the head down position for delivery. Your doctor can tell you if your baby is head down or breech (bottom first). Babies born at 34 weeks generally have well developed lungs and will average around 5 pounds (2,250 grams) and 12.6 inches (32 cm). Most babies born at this stage need little to no medical intervention to survive.
What Your Body is Doing This Week
You are probably starting to count the weeks and days until your baby arrives. Fatigue is very common in the later stages of pregnancy. You may also have trouble sleeping due to the increased weight and pressure of your baby and many women find sitting in a rocking chair is a great way to get some much needed rest and stave off leg cramps. Many babies seem soothed by their mother's rocking in-utero. If sleeping at night is proving almost impossible, try to take naps as often as possible to keep your exhaustion to a minimum.
