What Your Baby is Doing This Week
Your baby should be a little over 5 pounds, 5 ounces (2,400 grams), but this week begins your baby's most rapid period of weight gain - about 8 to 12 ounces (226 to 340 grams) each week until birth. The food you consume is being turned to fat and that is being deposited all over your baby's body, especially around the shoulder area.
Your baby's increase in size means that life inside the uterus is cramped and restrictive, so fetal movements will decrease but the movements you feel may be stronger than ever. If your baby is already in the head-down position for birth, you may feel some slight discomfort because the baby's head will rest on your pubic bone in preparation for labor and delivery.
What Your Body is Doing This Week
Many women feel like they know their baby's personalities at this point. From the sleep cycles, to the kicking and moving, you know if you have an active little person or a low-key baby that loves to cuddle. This is part of bonding and bond you feel for your baby will only continue to grow.
Your baby will putting on more weight more rapidly than at any other time during pregnancy, keep up your good diet and if heartburn is still an issue, be sure to eat several small meals a day instead of trying to keep larger meals down.
