What Your Baby is Doing This Week

This week is another developmental milestone for your baby. This week, the umbilical cord will be fully formed and will be your baby's connection to you providing oxygen and nourishment and disposing of your baby's wastes. Also this week, your baby's digestive functions and lungs will continue to build and form.

Imagining what this little one in your belly looks like already? If you could see your baby you'd hardly recognize him or her as the baby in your imagination. Your baby's face is just starting to take shape this week and the mouth, nostrils, ears and ears are only just now starting to become defined. The buds that popped up last week to become an arm, also great a little paddle that will become your baby's busy hands in the future.

What Your Body is Doing This Week

Pregnancy is continuing to cause many changes in your body and although you can't feel it, your body should have developed a mucous plug in your cervical canal and effectively seals off the uterus for protection of your growing baby. Chances are good you'll see this plug later as you lose this plug when the cervix dilates in labor to ready for the delivery of your baby
